Soap Nuts are the dried fruit of the Soapberry tree. They contain saponin, a natural cleaner used for thousands of years to clean. Soapnuts have been used in India and Ayurvedic traditions for thousands of years. For your laundry: Simply put as many soapnuts as will as will fit in the palm of your hand ( about 1/2 oz..8-12 pieces) into the included unbleached muslin sack and drop it in your laundry. Reuse up to 4 times. Your clothes come out clean, vibrant, and soft. Stop using chemicals and polluting the dying water supply. Replace your laundry detergents and softeners with a natural soap.100% Biodegradable and Hypoallergenic. You can use 3Tbsp of soap nuts liquid detergent per large load of laundry. To Make Soap nuts Liquid: Boil approximately 12-24 soap nut shells with 7-8 cups of water for 30 minutes. When it is boiled down, you will have about 4-5cups of liquid left. When cooled, remove the soap nuts, and pour it into an airtight plastic or glass jar. I am including a tea bag of potassium sorbate ( a food grade preservative) to add to the condensed liquid during cool down. This will make it so that you do not need to refrigerate the batch...although refrigeration will always extend shelf life:) It can spoil if you dont do this step...very quickly!. Experiment with making liquid to see if you prefer a more concentrated version, using 3 cups water instead of 6 cups. Some prefer the concentrated solution for handwashing and shampoo. You can also freeze it in ice cube trays as well. Depending on the size of each ice cube, use two or three per load of laundry. If each ice cube holds about 1Tbsp, use two ice cubes. Liquid Hand Soap Fill a regular or foaming pump bottle with the liquid and use to wash your hands. You can add esential oils as well:) Shampoo Use the liquid instead of your regular shampoo. This is a main ingredient in my Hair Tea. I do prefer to mix ine with other herbs as i find the soapnuts by themselves a little too drying as I dont use shampoo or conditioner on my hair...aside from Organic Virgin Coconut Oil:) By itself it will not create a lot of suds, but if you put about 1/4 cup in a food processor and whip you will get suds for the shampoo. CLEANING All Purpose Cleaner Keep it in a spray bottle and use to clean.Scent if desired with a few drops of essential oil. In the Dishwasher Fill the soap dispenser with the liquid. Make sure to scrape the dishes clean first. Add vinegar for the rinse. Clean Jewelry Soak your jewelry in the liquid for a few minutes. Use a toothbrush to gently clean. For Fido Just like you do your own hair:) Make Fido chemical free too. You receive one large muslin bag with approximately 5 ozs of soapnuts, 2 smaller muslin bags to make liquid do wash etc, and 1 small teabag of potassium sorbate to preserve the liquid should you choose to:)
